Rakhi Singh & Friends

ECHO Rising Stars at 30: Chamber Music Weekender

Rakhi Singh sitting on a rattan chair, looking to her right

Rakhi Singh, violinist and co-founder of Manchester Collective, is joined by a stellar string quartet for an afternoon of contemporary chamber music.

Violinist Rakhi Singh was a member of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) Rising Stars scheme in 2009-10, as a member of the Barbirolli Quartet. In the intervening years she has established herself as an acclaimed violinist and director at the cutting edge of contemporary practice, having co-founded Manchester Collective, released a solo record and toured with the likes of Phillip Glass, Abel Selaocoe and Hiromi.

Here she returns with friends for this celebratory ECHO 30th anniversary series with a colourful contemporary programme, featuring Edmund Finnis's iridescent writing for strings, Dobrinka Tabakova's folk-infused Ignite, and Ravel's dazzling duo for violin and cello.

This performance will end at approximately 5.30pm. There will be no interval.
