Lukas Sternath

ECHO Rising Stars at 30: Chamber Music Weekender

Lukas Sternath sitting in a seat of an empty concert hall

Join pianist Lukas Sternath for a mesmerising recital featuring an eclectic programme full of contrasts.

Sofia Gubaidulina's Chaconne is a true tour de force that pulls apart the Baroque form and reconstructs it for the 20th century. It's an explosive opener, followed by Erik Satie's dreamy Gymnopédies and the more experimental Gnossiennes. We're also treated to a new piece by Patricia Kopatchinskaja.

Pianist Lukas Sternath is no stranger to the stage, having travelled the world as a member of the world-famous Vienna Boys’ Choir. With Igor Levit as his mentor since 2022, he achieved sensational success at the 71st International ARD Music Competition, winning not only First Prize but seven special prizes including the audience prize too.

This performance will end at approximately 12.30pm. There will be no interval.
