12 Ensemble / GBSR Duo x Koreless: Pärt Refracted

Arvo Pärt at 90

12 Ensemble performing on stage

For the final Barbican concert in celebration of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt’s 90th birthday, the London based 12 Ensemble bring a contemporary slant to the 20th century titan’s compositions.

Woven around well known Pärt pieces such as Fur Alina and Fratres, new works by DJ and producer Koreless, producer and composer Floating Points, British composer and violinist Sasha Scott and composer and cellist Oliver Coates will cast a new light on Pärt’s works, while demonstrating his considerable influence on composers today.

Formed in 2012 by Artistic Directors Eloisa-Fleur Thom and Max Ruisi, the 12 Ensemble since has become one of Europe's leading string orchestras, combining their dedication to core repertoire with exceptional new commissions and collaborators from a broad range of artistic disciplines.
