Travels Over Feeling: The Music of Arthur Russell

Arthur Russell

An evening celebrating the life and work of American musician and composer Arthur Russell: ‘One of the 20th-century’s true musical visionaries.’ (The Guardian)

Across a twenty-year career Russell created a pioneering body of work that defied classification and continues to influence the music of today. Resistant to the idea of genre, his talent allowed him to excel in any number of styles and dialogues.

This evening celebrates his enduring legacy, anchored by the stellar Speakers Corner Quartet they will be joined by  Cate Le Bon, Christine and The Queens, Loraine James, Nabihah Iqbal, Oren Marshall, Oscar Jerome, Sarah Tandy, Sheila Maurice-Gray, Tawiah, Tirzah and Trustfall. Performing on cello, Lucinda Chua brings a crucial element of Russell’s signature sound.

JD Twitch (Optimo) concludes the evening with a post-show DJ set on the ClubStage.

This event celebrates the release of author Richard King's landmark publication, Travels over Feeling: Arthur Russell, A Life.
