Io Capitano (15) (AD)

A young, tired man looks ahead in the desert, in the glaring sun.

Two young boys who leave Senegal for Europe are faced with the horrific reality that immigrants experience in the desert and beyond, in Matteo Garone's deeply moving masterpiece.

Nominated for Best International Feature at this year's Oscars, Matteo Garrone presents the journey of two young boys from West Africa to Italy, in this stunning yet harrowing drama.

Seydou and Moussa from Dakar, Senegal dream of being pop stars. To chase this dream, they have to cross the desert and the ocean. The story is inspired by actual stories of journeys taken by migrants from Africa to Europe

With many moments of laugh out loud humour and joy, Garrone's drama is full of hope, heartbreak and truth, whilst looking directly at the harrowing realities around the world of those with dreams of a better life. It was shot in Senegal, Morocco and Italy.

Starring Seydou Sarr, Moustapha Fall and Issaka Sawadogo.
