Baltimore (15)

A woman and two men in 60s clothing raise a fist to the sky in defiance or solidarity.

Imogen Poots turns riches to rags as a debutante who leaves England to join the Irish Republican Army during the Troubles, in this brooding political thriller.

Husband and wife directing duo Joe Lawlor and Christine Molloy turn their hand at another feminist project, this time detailing the life of Rose Dugdale (1941 – 2024), heiress-turned-IRA member, played by Imogen Poots.

Baltimore (referring to the village in County Cork) follows Dugdale as she becomes increasingly radicalised, fighting against British Imperialism in Ireland. Amongst the political turmoil of the 1970s, her sympathy towards the IRA’s conflict evolves into radicalisation, culminating in an armed raid on an Irish estate with three comrade.

A thriller that turns darker at every turn.
