Swan Song (12A) (AD)

A well dressed man in a mobility chair in front of cars on a motorway in a still from Swan Song

The magnetic Udo Kier stars as an elderly hairdresser who is asked to do one last job, in this sweet and slightly magical story, reflecting on quite a life.

Based on a real individual, Kier is Pat Pitsenbarger, once the ‘Liberace of Sandusky’, Ohio, now another resident in the town’s nursing home. After old friend Rita dies, her wish for Pat to style her body is the catalyst for an escape from the home, and re-entry into a town and society that have changed a lot over the years, but still holds dear memories and the fingerprints of Pat’s influence.

With a terrific supporting cast including Jennifer Coolidge, Michael Urie, Linda Evans and the late Ira Hawkins, this bittersweet portrait gives Kier some much-deserved spotlight.
