Join Curator of Postwar Modern and Barbican's Head of Visual Arts, Jane Alison, for a tour of the exhibition’s highlights.

Postwar Modern: New Art in Britain 1945-65 is a revelatory new take on art in Britain after the Second World War, a period when artists had to make sense of an entirely altered world. Focusing on ‘the new’, the exhibition features 48 artists and around 200 works of painting, sculpture, photography, collage and installation.

Jane Alison is Head of Visual Arts at the Barbican, a post she has held since 2013. Her leadership has seen the Barbican Art Gallery’s programme go from strength to strength, exemplified by record-breaking attendance and critically acclaimed shows. She co-curated Barbican’s showing of Modern Couples: Art, Intimacy and the Avantgarde (2018).

Please meet at the entrance to the gallery. Our team on site will be able to help with any questions on the day.
