Jonas Kaufmann/Diana Damrau & Helmut Deutsch

Love Songs by Schumann and Brahms

The image is split into two: Jonas Kaufmann on the left, Diana Damrau on the right

Have your emotions stirred by two of the world’s finest opera voices, as Diana Damrau and Jonas Kaufmann come together to sing songs of love by two of the Romantic period’s great lieder composers.

Love is joyful but complicated, as was true of Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms’s own love stories. Their songs represent love in all its facets: from reverie to longing, from happiness of fulfilment to disappointment, resignation to renunciation.

These two superstars last brought us their superb characterisation and beautiful voices in 2018, alongside their long-time accompanist Helmut Deutsch. ‘Diana Damrau and Jonas Kaufmann's love songs are a joy’ said the Evening Standard – it won’t be any different this time round.

This performance will end at approximately 9.30pm, including a 20-minute interval.
