A Meeting Place

Blue Dreams - Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq

Deaf and hearing worlds unite in this musical ‘meeting place’, as choral music and BSL signed performance come together in an acoustic and visual evening celebrating the diversity of human connection.

How can sung and signed performances marry together on a stage to emphasise cultural experiences can and should be shared on an equal footing? Get closer to music spanning the last 450 years, from Thomas Tallis’s If Ye Love Me to the world premiere of Novel Meetings, a poem by British Sign Language Poet DL Williams that has inspired a new choral work by rising star composer Kate Whitley.

In a British Sign Language-signed a cappella feast, London’s LGBT+ choral group The Fourth Choir take us on a voyage of discovery, collaborating with an ensemble of Deaf musicians, led by Paul Whittaker OBE, and conductor Nicholas Chalmers, in what will be a fully immersive bilingual and bicultural evening.
