The Forty-Year-Old Version (15) + Recorded ScreenTalk

Women Lead the Way

Radha Blank on a bus drinking

Directed by and starring Radha Blank, this refreshing comedy drama tells the story of a 40-year-old playwright who decides to try hip-hop instead.

Down on her luck playwright Radha hasn’t had a hit for a while. She spends her days teaching local high school kids in an after-school theatre class and trying to play along with financiers in the very white NY theatre scene who keep insisting that her plays are just not black enough.

Radha feels lost both creatively and personally until she begins to rap about her life. Through hip-hop, the creative juices begin to flow once again and she starts to remember exactly who she is and what she stands for.
