West Side Story (12A) (AD)

Relaxed Screening

A still from Steven Spielberg's West Side Story

It’s time for Steven Spielberg’s epic version of the classic musical about love across the divide, starring Ansel Elgort and introducing Rachel Zegler in her screen debut.

In 1950s New York City, two gangs from different ethnic communities rival each other to gain control of the Upper West Side: the Sharks and the Jets. When Maria (Zegler), a ‘Shark’, falls in love with Tony (Elgort), a Jet, can love conquer all and overcome social, racial and political divides?

With a script by Tony Kushner (Angels in America), music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by the late, great Stephen Sondheim, this is a fresh, prescient and stunning remake; a lifelong dream for Spielberg.
