Lang Lang plays the Goldberg Variations

Lang Lang leaning on piano

A profoundly personal project for one of the 21st century’s most influential musical personalities: Lang Lang tackles one of the most legendary keyboard works ever written.

A technical exercise? A cure for insomnia? Or a musical exploration of the mind of God? Few keyboard works are more revered, or more elusive, than Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Now Lang Lang offers his vision of a work that’s greater than any one performer.

And he’s well aware of the challenge he has set himself. ‘Not all things in life are achieved by will and effort’, he says; and this looks very like the start of a wholly new chapter in the Lang Lang story.

This performance will end at approximately 9.10pm, without an interval.
