We're all made up of multitudes and director, Patricia Rozema, makes them explicit in this humours and relatable drama.
Two actors play Cassie, a 30-year-old woman living in Toronto, who wakes up one morning (hungover) to find out that her mother had died of a stroke during the night. She's far from ready for it, but suddenly she has to gather herself together to plan the funeral.
The two versions of Cassie contrast to each other, reacting differently to situations that arise and often disagreeing with each other. They help each other to get through the traumatic time, whilst also exploring the frustrations women have to face day-to-day. They create a messy, complex, authentic, funny woman grappling with life in a way we can all relate to.
