Boys State (12A)

Women Lead the Way

This Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winning documentary presents a microcosm of American politics and is definitely like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Each year, 1100 teenage boys attend a Summer camp in Texas where they are promptly split into two competing teams who must first build a government from the ground up, then try to win an election.

In Boys State, we follow a handful of these young men, who fall at various points from one end of the political spectrum to the other, as they participate in the scheme. This is utterly compelling viewing; reflecting the current state of American politics whilst also projecting how the boys would like it to be.
