Ben Goldscheider looking into the distance with his French Horn

The ‘musical Bear Grylls’ (Huffington Post) brings his fearless attitude and dexterity to three staples of the French horn repertoire and the premiere of an exciting new commission from Mark Simpson.

Ben's been on our radar since his eye-catching performance here in the BBC Young Musician 2016 final alongside Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Jess Gillam. With four years of intense study at the prestigious Barenboim-Said Academy now under his belt we’re looking forward to sharing his brilliant talent with you once again, and across Europe via the European Concert Halls Organisation.

On release of his debut album Gramophone declared Goldscheider ‘a horn player who must surely have thrilling prospects ahead of him’ – and sure enough a litany of prestigious debuts, nominations and watch-list inclusions have followed, including as our ECHO Rising Star nominee. The stylish and lyrical qualities of his musicianship will undoubtedly come to the fore in music by Beethoven, Schumann and Vignery, and we can’t wait to see what Simpson has in store for him.

This performance will finish at approximately 2.15pm.
