A woman kneels down in front of a recorder

Think of early electronic music and you’ll likely see men pushing buttons, knobs, and boundaries, but the truth is, women have been integral from the very beginning.

Women have been inventing devices, techniques and tropes that would define the shape of sound for years to come.

As one of the film’s subjects, Laurie Spiegel explains: “We women were especially drawn to electronic music when the possibility of a woman composing was in itself controversial. Electronics let us make music that could be heard by others without having to be taken seriously by the male-dominated establishment.”

We've added this additional screening of Sisters with Transistors due to high demand and a sold out first screening. We are delighted that director Lisa Rovner joins us in-venue for a ScreenTalk.

We’ve brought in measures to keep you safe, in line with government guidelines.

Under new guidelines, we’ve fewer available seats in our cinema and fewer screenings so we can clean between shows. You can only sit in the same seating cluster as someone from your own household (or support bubble) and we ask you to not swap seats so we can maintain a safe distance between you and other groups.

Tickets must be booked online in advance.
