Travel to composer Erland Cooper’s homeland on the Orkney Islands through his lush compositions, introduced by Mary Anne Hobbs.

Erland Cooper has created a journey through Scotland's Orkney Islands - air, sea, land, community and dialect - in his Orkney Triptych of albums: Solan Goose, Sule Skerry and Hether Blether.

Layered strings, piano, field recordings and electronics, performed by Cooper and his nest of musicians along with a small cluster of players from the London Contemporary Orchestra, seamlessly form one audio-visual piece with footage and imagery from Erland's artistic partner Alex Kozobolis for a truly surrounding experience.

Erland Cooper was due to perform all three albums in his Orkney Triptych at the Barbican this year, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a larger scale performance is being rescheduled for 2021

How to watch

3.    If you already have an account, you can log in during the purchase. If not, create an account as you buy. 

4.    Once your purchase has gone through, there’ll be a button to click to ‘View videos’, or click on the link in your email, or go to your account.

5.    Once you are logged into your account, click on the button to 'Watch Concerts'.
 
6.    Start watching your concert. From purchase, you have 48 hours to start and finish watching the concert. Enjoy!
