Dublin dock worker Colm (Tom Vaughn-Lawlor) finds an unexpected connection with young man Jay (Tom Glynn-Carney), in this quietly affecting drama from director Peter Mackie Burns (Daphne).
Colm’s life in increasingly under strain, from the recent death of his father, to his looming unemployment and unfulfilling marriage to Claire (Monica Dolan).
Yet, he finds a spark of sexual awakening in his relationship with teenager Jay, whose forthright, yet transactional manner forces Colm out of his shell and to consider his desires and connections.
Anchored by a terrific and tender performance by Vaughn-Lawlor, this is a generous and thoughtful exploration of the extraordinary undercurrents of an ordinary life.
