Two shocked people

Join Cheek by Jowl's associate Marcus Roche for an intensive weekend workshop in response to The Knight of the Burning Pestle.

Cheek by Jowl is the international theatre company of Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod, producing work in three languages; English, French and Russian.

Marcus Roche has trained and worked in Russia and has been with Cheek by Jowl for over four years as Assistant Director of The Winter's Tale, Périclès, Prince de Tyr, and lead workshop practitioner.

Through this intensive weekend workshop, you will gain insight into Cheek by Jowl’s approach to acting, and be introduced to some of the modes of rehearsal the company uses. As part of the Lab, you will receive a ticket to the Saturday evening performance on Sat 8 Jun.

This Lab is suitable for students, emerging or mid-career actors, directors and theatre-makers, ages 18+. International participants are encouraged to apply. Some preparatory work in advance of the workshop will be required.
