We The Animals (15)

Boys sitting on a sofa covering their ears

A visually stunning coming-of-age film about three bi-racial brothers growing up in upstate New York.

Three brothers, Manny, Joel and Jonah are often left to fend for themselves as their parents struggle with their own volatile, and at times violent, relationship and economic insecurity. The narrative is predominantly told through Jonah's eyes, the youngest brother. As relationships begin to unravel, every experience Jonah has begins to form his understanding of love, family, sexuality, masculinity and self-worth.

Director, Jeremiah Zagar's re-creates childhood in a poetic and often dream-like way, that feels as though it is conjured from a collection of memories.
