Preview: Can You Ever Forgive Me? (15) + ScreenTalk with Richard E Grant

Can you ever forgive me?

An endlessly entertaining character study with an Oscar®-worthy performance from Melissa McCarthy as celebrity biographer-turned-forger Lee Israel.

Melissa McCarthy stars as Lee Israel, the best-selling celebrity biographer (and cat lover) who made her living in the 70s and 80s profiling the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Tallulah Bankhead and Estée Lauder.

Having fallen out of step with the marketplace, Lee finds herself upon hard times: unable to get published, behind in rent. She decides to turn her art form to deception, forging intimate letters by prominent writers abetted by her loyal friend Jack (Richard E. Grant).

Following the preview screening of this awards season contender from The Diary of a Teenage Girl director Marielle Heller, we invite British screen legend Richard E. Grant to the Barbican in conversation.
