Parent & Baby Screening: Out of Blue (15)

Patricia Clarkson stars in Carol Morley's Out of Blue

Director Carol Morley (Dreams of a LifeThe Falling)  returns with a stylish, cosmic murder mystery, in which a police officer must discover who killed a young astrophysicist.

Down in New Orleans, Detective Mike Hoolihan (Patricia Clarkson) is called on to investigate the killing of Jennifer Rockwell (Mamie Gummer), a rising star of the astrophysics world, whose latest work has delved deep into the science of black holes. Suspicion falls on two academic colleagues, but is jealousy the motivation, or could there be some stranger forces at work?

With a superb cast, including James CaanJacki Weaver and Toby Jones, this is a detective story quite unlike others, dream-like and puzzling, offering no neat conclusions.
