Moor Mother: The Great Bailout

with the London Contemporary Orchestra

Moor Mother lying on a concrete floor

Electronic musician and poet Moor Mother confronts colonialism and slavery in this new collaboration with the London Contemporary Orchestra.

The first collaboration between the Philadelphia-based interdisciplinary artist and the pioneering orchestra, The Great Bailout is a free verse poem that acts as a non-linear word map about colonialism, slavery and commerce in Great Britain and the commonwealth.

Merging social realism with eerily surreal imagery and an immediacy of delivery, Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother) is unmatched in inventiveness. A musician, poet and visual artist, Camae has performed at festivals, colleges, galleries and museums around the world, sharing the stage with King Britt, Roscoe Mitchell, Claudia Rankine, Bell Hooks and more. Camae is a vocalist in several collaborative groups including Irreversible Entanglements, Moor Jewelry, 700bliss and the Art Ensemble of Chicago. The London Contemporary Orchestra have worked with Terry Riley, Actress, Mica Levi and more.

This event will begin at the advertised start time and running times will be confirmed closer to the event.
