Il Pomo d’Oro/Edgar Moreau

Edgar Moreau holding cello

Our Il Pomo d’Oro focus ends in a blaze of 18th-century celebration: exuberant Baroque and Classical cello concertos framed by orchestral music bursting with pageantry, invention and joy.

18th-century audiences loved music that dazzled the ear – and instrumentalists, as well as singers, vied to perform unheard-of technical feats. This is music that demands theatricality, and Il Pomo d’Oro are performers who never stint on that.

Nor does the young French cellist Edgar Moreau. Le Figaro acclaimed his ‘effortless virtuosity and dynamic performances’ and together they’ll sparkle, with Moreau’s grace and élan, our Il Pomo d’Oro focus will end with a flourish.
