A Clockwork Orange (18)

Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange

Stanley Kubrick's dystopian visual cacophony remains a masterwork of cinema, re-released for a timely return to the big screen.

Kubrick's artful adaptation of Anthony Burgess' most famous novel A Clockwork Orange follows Alex DeLarge (Malcolm McDowell) and his droogs for an evening of ultra-violence and narcotic cocktails.

DeLarge jaunts through a near-future, acid-trip London, accompanied by a vibrating Moog soundtrack and camerawork both dizzying and disturbing, before finding himself subject to the Minister of the Interior's new experimental aversion therapy, the 'Ludovico' technique.

A chilling, thrilling and thoroughly unsettling cinematic vision of nihilism and the limits of social control.
