The Rite of Spring & Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances

Timo Andres and David Kaplan

A colour photograph of Timo Andres and David Kaplan by a piano

The livewire piano duo of Timo Andres and David Kaplan plays Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring and Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances.

Take it from a composer: Timo Andres knows that when a great orchestral score is performed on two pianos, it opens up new perspectives on even the best-loved masterpiece. He’s joined by long-term collaborator David Kaplan to offer thrilling proof.

Stravinsky’s spectacular two-piano version of The Rite of Spring packs an almost physical punch. And on the piano, Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances are precisely as exciting as you’d imagine from a composer who was also the 20th century’s most dazzling pianist. With Andres and Kaplan at the keyboards, these two great works will be stripped back – and re-energised.
