Singing our Lives 2018

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Refugee Week

Singing our Lives 2018 at Guildhall

Singing our Lives, in conjunction with the Guildhall School’s Electronic Music department, returns after a sell-out concert last year.

Reuniting The Mixed Up Chorus, The Sing for Freedom Choir, The Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus, Guildhall students and special guests, we present an evening of moving and inspiring music exploring the experiences of refugees and migrants in the UK and the rich musical diversity this inspires. With over 200 performers, the evening will be a powerful evocation of the migration story, combining opera, classical, popular and electronic genres with music from around the globe.

Featuring the world premiere of a new commission created in collaboration with the performing choirs by composer Mike Roberts (Guildhall's Head of Electronic Music) and librettist Sarah Grange (Improbable Theatre), along with special guest appearances. Conducted by Jeremy Haneman. Creative Producer Holly Jones.

Produced by Together Productions in partnership with the Guildhall School, the International Organization for Migration, Freedom From Torture and the Royal Opera House. Funded by Arts Council England and National Lottery Awards for All.

Promoted by the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
