Pour le piano: Jean-Efflam Bavouzet plays Debussy

A full colour photograph of Jean-Efflam Bavouzet and piano

100 years since the death of Debussy, a day-long exploration of his piano music with pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet and Debussy scholar Roger Nichols.

Debussy, says Jean-Efflam Bavouzet ‘always reaches the poetic target he has in mind’. 100 years to the day since the composer’s death, this three-part, day-long adventure sees him explore every facet of Debussy’s limitless pianistic imagination.

Debussy expert Roger Nichols will introduce and discuss each selection, as Bavouzet moves from the early piano miniatures to the visionary impressionism of the Images and Préludes, and beyond – into the transcendent clarity and fantasy of the Etudes. Over the whole day, it builds into a comprehensive musical portrait of the composer, presented by two of his most committed living advocates.
