Meeta Pandit: Pandits of Gwalior book launch

Meeta Pandit singing

An in- conversation session with vocalist and author Meeta Pandit, who will be discussing her new book, Pandits of Gwalior.

The book gives insights into the fascinating history of India’s most important school of music,Gwalior, and explores the transition from dhrupad to khayal musical styles in north Indian classical music.

Pandit will also reflect on a time when it was unthinkable for Hindus to practice music and how Gwalior transcended into a selfless form of guru bhakti  – the practice of devotion to a guru in order to gain wisdom, spirituality and  enlightenment. She will showcase the singing style of Gwalior throughout the session and the event will conclude with a book signing.

This performance will begin promptly at the advertised start time and is expected to finish by 4pm – subject to change.
