Emmanuel Tjeknavorian (violin)

ECHO Rising Stars

A full colour portrait of Emmanuel Tjeknavorian

The young Austrian violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian puts everything on the line, in a bold unaccompanied recital.

The ECHO Rising Stars programme sets out to bring Europe’s most remarkable young musicians to the Barbican, and Emmanuel Tjeknavorian has been cutting a swathe through Europe’s violin competitions. This unaccompanied recital of Bach, Ysaÿe, Bartok and more offers a truly spectacular demonstration of his prowess.

This is violin playing the raw – some of the most demanding music ever written for violin, from the sublime purity of Bach’s and Bartók’s great chaconnes to the unashamed fireworks of Heinrich Ernst. But Tjeknavorian turns every challenge into pure expression: and this concert will also feature a new work from the Austrian Alps by Tjeknavorian’s fellow-violinist (and composer) Christoph Ehrenfellner.
