Pop Up Greeting Card Workshop with KUF Studios

Pop Up Card Workshop in the Barbican Shop

In this workshop especially designed for the Brutalist style of the Barbican, KUF Studio founder Kia Utzon-Frank will teach how to make beautiful hand cut pop up cards.

Using simple Japanese kirigami (structured cuts and folds) we will create personalised greetings with a contemporary twist. We will work both with paper from G . F Smith as well as stone paper - yes, that is paper made of stone!

The workshop is adjusted to suit different difficulty levels and skills so everybody will be met (and challenged) at their level and leave with their own handmade cards. The workshop is an introduction to a different way of approaching “the flat paper” by exploring the transformation of shape and is rewarding and inspiring for both for beginners with no background in design and professional designers.

Kia uses this method herself to create much of her own work and will also explain how to further explore this way of working and use it as an efficient idea development method.
