Jamila Gavin Presents: The Adventures of Prince Achmed (U)

Framed Film Club

An image from The Adventures of Prince Achmed

Author Jamila Gavin introduces this early animated classic from Lotte Reiniger with live musical accompaniment.

This month, author Jamila Gavin (Coram Boy, Grandpa Chatterji) has taken over Framed Film Club by choosing some of her favourite children’s classics for us to screen. We're delighted to have Jamila join us to introduce this screening.

Jamila Gavin introduces this gem, adapted from The Tales of Arabian Nights, which tells the tale of the love of a poor tailor for a princess.

Beautiful, delicate images reveal the craft of silhouette animation in this fantastic silent film, with live musical accompaniment from Stephen Horne.
