Quatuor Van Kuijk

ECHO Rising Stars

Quatuor van Kuijk

The ECHO Rising Stars series spotlights the rising French string quartet Quatuor Van Kuijk, in music by Janáček, Ravel and Edith Canat de Chizy.

‘These four young Frenchmen made the music smile' said The Guardian of the Quatuor Van Kuijk. A programme that ranges from the Gallic grace of Ravel to the raw passion of Janáček’s Kreutzer Sonata - by way of something completely new - should suit them down to the ground.

But that same critic also praised their ‘style, energy and sense of risk’ – one reason why the Quatuor Van Kuijk won multiple prizes at the 2015 Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition. This is a chance to hear them growing before your ears; introducing a specially commissioned new work by one of France’s pre-eminent living chamber composers even as they establish their voice in two of the 20th century’s defining masterpieces for string quartet.
