Barbican announces performance with singer-songwriter Charlie Cunningham for April 2025

Singer-songwriter Charlie Cunningham makes his Barbican debut in April 2025. An under-the-radar success story, Cunningham blends piano and nylon-string guitar to produce melancholic yet rhythmically driven sound that he will bring to in this debut Barbican performance next year.
Despite his dyslexia making it near impossible for him to read music, Cunningham earned a music degree and by his mid-20s worked a variety of odd jobs and wrote songs in his free time.
Eventually, he moved to Seville, immersed himself in Flamenco music and focused intensely on his guitar playing. Planning to stay for 3 months, he stayed for 3 years. Once home, Charlie found work playing in bars across London and Oxford - eventually returning to songwriting. Charlie has since released three albums and four EPs which have garnered over half a billion streams.
His new single, Happening Lately, produced by Luke Smith (Keaton Henson, Foals, Everything Everything), pairs his intricate guitar work with poignant lyrics that offer a glimpse into his next steps.
