Casual Host

Job Advert
We are looking for exceptional people to join our team of Barbican Hosts. This casual role is intended to primarily support our weekend operations. While weekday shifts may occasionally become available, the majority of work offered to successful candidates will be for Saturdays and/or Sundays, in line with the business need.
You will be positive, flexible and committed to helping our customers get the most from their time at the Barbican.
Barbican hosts are the first point of contact for all visitors and you will be able to communicate confidently and effectively to visitors and colleagues, have a friendly and welcoming approach and provide excellent standards of customer service.

 

Role Duties
Frontline duties of meeting, greeting and directing customers, providing information and advice and recommending additional Barbican activities and facilities.
Understand the evacuation procedures and be confident in directing the public in the event of an emergency in a calm and confident manner.
Responsible for ensuring your working area is clean, presentable, and safe.
Responsible for sales of programmes and merchandise.
Responsible for ensuring customer feedback and technical issues are passed to the relevant teams.
Undertake any reasonable additional duties requested.

 

Role Overview

Ability to work under frontline pressure while always maintaining an efficient and effective service.
Clear and concise communication skills and confidence in dealing with large volumes of visitors. 
Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to find solutions to customer related queries.
Excellent time keeping.
A smart appearance essential (basic items of uniform will be provided).

 

Details
This is a casual worker position and shifts will be allocated two weeks in advance. These are offered on a casual basis and are not guaranteed. Shifts are offered under the agreement of the provision of services.

 

Rates of Pay
£13.85 basic + £1.67 holiday

 

Method of Payment
Payment is made on a weekly basis and by direct debit to your bank account.

 

Uniform
Barbican t-shirt and jacket is provided and must be worn as detailed in the Audience Experience Uniform Style Guide. You must provide your own smart black trousers and smart black or brown shoes and dark socks.
