Twin stars, and enduring melodies: Angela Gheorghiu joins forces with the Romanian piano virtuoso Alexandra Dariescu for a recital that spans three centuries of melody and romance.

Angela Gheorghiu is an opera singer of the kind they just don’t make any more. A star of this brilliance requires a quite exceptional partner, so when Gheorghiu is joined by pianist Alexandra Dariescu, it’ll double the charm of this enchantingly tuneful programme.

Gheorghiu and Dariescu have chosen a mixture of melodies that lodge in the memory – some dating back to the mid-18th century – and glimpses of Romantic masters at their most intimate. With Gheorghiu’s ravishing voice and Dariescu’s famously sensitive touch, it should be a revelation: after all, to make this deceptively tuneful music yield its deepest secrets takes performers of unparalleled sensitivity and skill.
