Joyce DiDonato: Songplay

Joyce DiDonato portrait 2020

Charismatic mezzo Joyce DiDonato presents Songplay: a very personal project uniting the worlds of opera and popular song.

From Handel to Jake Heggie, there’s little that Joyce DiDonato hasn’t sung at the Barbican – and she brings the house down every time. Now, with a cabaret combo and her own selection of songs and arias, she celebrates the joy of song across all genres.

And if anyone can branch out with real style, it’s DiDonato – a singer whose artistry and integrity, as well as her lustrous voice, makes everything she sings worth hearing – whether jazz, tango, Broadway or opera. This recital, inspired by her best-selling album, should be a treat for the cognoscenti and a delight for the novice: delivered, she promises, ‘with a song in her heart and a twinkle in her eye’.

End time to be announced nearer the event.
