Thomas Dunford plays Vivaldi and Bach

Academy of Ancient Music

Thomas Dunford plays lute between two marble statues

Virtuosic lutenist Thomas Dunford joins the Academy of Ancient Music to direct and perform an enthralling programme of Bach and Vivaldi.

In a programme showcasing the lute’s attributes as a solo instrument, hear the music of J S Bach, Buxtehude and Vivaldi, culminating in the latter’s glorious Concerto for Lute in D.

Revel in this repertoire with one of the instrument’s most acclaimed interpreters, whom BBC Music Magazine crowned ‘the Eric Clapton of the lute’ following the launch of Dunford’s debut album release in 2013. With his fleet fingers, glowing tone and natural abilities as a communicator, this will surely be a performance to remember.

The performance is expected to finish around 9.30pm, including a 20 minute interval.

Please note that the performance originally advertised on this date will no longer be taking place, as Jean Rondeau is very pleased to share the news that in February 2020 he and his wife are expecting the arrival of their first child. Original tickets remain valid for this replacement concert.
