Budapest Festival Orchestra and Sir András Schiff

Beethoven's Piano Concerto No 5, Emperor

Budapest Festival Orchestra on stage Ivan Fisher conducting

Sir András Schiff, Iván Fischer and the peerless Budapest Festival Orchestra continue their anniversary salute to the music of Beethoven with his mighty Emperor Concerto.

‘There seems no limit to the sheer creativity that fizzes from Iván Fischer and his Budapest Festival Orchestra’ declared The Arts Desk in 2018. Add the visionary insight of Sir András Schiff, and their performance of the Emperor Concerto should be a Beethoven anniversary celebration like no other.

And there is more still: add the pure, sunlit delight of Dvořák’s Eighth (and surely happiest) symphony, performed by musicians who live and breathe this music. You’d be right to expect superlative playing and conducting that’s not far short of genius – but we’d also be willing to bet you’ll leave the concert hall smiling.

This performance will end at approximately 9.25pm, including a 20 minute interval.
