Dust Bowl Ballads: Cath & Phil Tyler

Music in the Art Gallery

A photograph by Dorothea Lange entitled 'Drought Refugees'

Join Cath & Phil Tyler for an evening of music in the Art Gallery

To accompany the exhibition Dorothea Lange: Politics of Seeing, British folk singer and music specialist Sam Lee curates a series of live music events in the gallery space in response to Dorothea Lange’s photographs of the Great Depression.

Newcastle duo Cath and Phil bring a shared love of traditional narrative song, full voiced sacred harp singing and sparse mountain banjo. They perform on stages as diverse as the Royal Opera House in London and a dank tower in the old city walls of Newcastle

"unpretentious interpretations of beautiful songs, sang with care and love by two people who collect and cherish the history and importance of folk song" Folk Radio UK

Free with your exhibition ticket on Thursday 2 August. Book your ticket.

Performance times: 7-8.30pm
