Dystopia is Not the Future

A series of talks and screenings that ask how we move from this darkening moment and allow ourselves to be emboldened by hope, community and collective action.
This series opens up the conversation: we are the change we want to see – we are the world to come.
From Blade Runner to The Handmaid’s Tale, our culture is shaped by fictions that tell a tale of social decline. This story is often laced with hope found through resistance.
In a time where dystopia feels looming; where authoritarianism, climate collapse, misogyny, human rights violations, and social inequality are escalating, it's easy to be overwhelmed and freeze. Optimism in itself is a radical act. What might happen if we leaned into compassion, and imagined better worlds; and dreamed them into existence?
We invite leading thinkers to come together and consider the issues that will shape us and our future. From politics, technology and climate, this season considers the systems of the world – and how we might reimagine them for good.
