Authors Daisy Hildyard, Rebecca Tamás and Rachael Allen share their thoughts on writing to capture our complex relationships with ecology.

Daisy Hildyard’s first novel, Hunters in the Snow, received the Somerset Maugham Award and a ‘5 under 35’ honorarium at the USA National Book Awards. Her essay The Second Body was published by Fitzcarraldo Editions in 2017. She lives with her family in North Yorkshire.

Rebecca Tamás is the author of the poetry collection WITCH (Penned in the Margins), which was a Poetry Society Choice and a Paris Review Staff Pick. Her essay collection Strangers: Essays on the Human and Nonhuman (Makina Books); was longlisted for the Rathbones Folio Prize 2021. She is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at York St John University.

Rachael Allen is the author of Kingdomland (Faber) and co-author of numerous artists' books, including Nights of Poor Sleep (Prototype), Almost One, Say Again! (Slimvolume) and Green at an Angle (Kestle Barton).
