Kebyart Ensemble (saxophone quartet)

ECHO Rising Stars

The Kebyart Ensemble stand holding their saxophones, looking at the camera

A saxophone quartet isn’t an ensemble you often find on a concert hall stage. The vibrant Kebyart Ensemble are here to change that, offering a fresh perspective on traditional classical performance.

Matched by a skill for chamber music-making that very few possess, the Kebyart Ensemble are determined to enrich their audiences’ ears with a fresh twist on classical repertoire. Today they breathe new life into works by Igor Stravinsky, Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn and Florent Schmitt, as well as standing by their commitment to new works with an exciting commission by Jörg Widmann. They bring their London recital to a close by bringing their Barcelona flare to an arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s setting of Federico García Lorca’s Pequeño vals vienés

These are ‘musicians capable of surpassing technical perfection to arrive at musical communication’ said the Revista Musical Catalana in 2016. Five years on, their communication has only strengthened.

This concert will finish at approximately 2pm.

Nominated by the Palau de la Música Catalana and L’Auditori Barcelona

Supported by the Idlewild Trust, Rainbow Dickinson Trust, Leche Trust and the Golsoncott Foundation
