Jyotsna Shrikanth + Ken Zuckerman

Darbar Festival

Ken Zuckerman playing the sarod with his head lowered

A special double bill featuring both Carnatic and Hindustani music, rarely presented together in Indian classical festivals.

Violinist Jyotsna Shrikanth returns to the Festival more than a decade after her after her highly acclaimed sell out concert in 2010. Performing rich and expressive ragas, she demonstrates immaculate techniques. BC Manjunath, Prathap Ramachandra and RN Prakash provide sensitive, dynamic accompaniment and perform a short solo as part of the main Ragam Tanam Pallavi, the main movement in the Carnatic concert.

Inheriting the Maihar gharana style of music of his teacher, the legendary Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, sarod player Ken Zuckerman has carved his own niche as a master of improvisation. He brings a searching curiosity to his sensitive yet flamboyant playing, accompanied here by Surdarshan Chana on the tabla.

Darbar is committed to reaching Zero carbon emission and Darbar will plant a tree for every ticket sold
