Anime’s Human Machines: Manga Workshop (14 to 19 year-olds)

Draw Your Robot Manga Sidekick

spaceboy

Bring your much-loved smartphone or coffee-maker to life as a manga character in this special workshop.

Led by professional manga artist Chie Kutsuwada, the session begins with a brief introduction to manga and anime. We’ll learn about designing a character, looking at aspects of drawing specific to manga and at different genre styles.

Then we’ll ask you to think of a beloved gadget, something you use every day, and think how this could translate into character design. You’ll make notes and sketches, then develop and complete a design – with Chie on hand to offer tips and tricks for visualising your ideas. We’ll wrap up with questions at the end.

This workshop is for 14 to 19 year-olds.

All materials are provided; your finished drawings are yours to take away. The session lasts 1 ½ hours in total.
Please note: Places are limited. A small number of tickets are available on the day – first come, first served.
