The Barbican is temporarily closed until further notice due to new UK Government advice on Coronavirus/Covid-19.
To close our building was a poignant moment for us all. We exist to connect people, so we’re still coming to terms with what this means for us as an organisation, as a team, and as a place that welcomes visitors and artists from around the world. We’ll be back as soon as we can and are already looking forward to the moment we can reopen our doors.
All events taking place until Friday 1 May 2020 have now been cancelled or postponed. We’re not sure how long we’re going to need to be closed so we’re taking things day by day, but we’ll be in touch as soon as we know more. You can sign up to our mailing list to make sure you’re first to know.
If you’ve booked a ticket for something that’s been cancelled, you’ll be able to claim a refund. We’ll be in touch next week with all the details of how to do this. As you can imagine there’s a lot to get through, so it’s taking a bit more time than usual to set this up. Please bear with us.
As an organisation, we rely on ticket sales and your enduring support and generosity to be able to present and share our programme with you and thousands of others. We’re all finding ourselves in completely new territory, which presents a real financial challenge for us and for those we work with. So, if you’re able, please consider donating to us so we can keep investing in the artists and organisations that help make this place what it is.
Until then, we may have swapped our concrete backdrop for laptop screens on desks, sofas and kitchen tables across London and beyond, but we’re still very much here.
Our focus now is on finding ways we can bring everything you love about the Barbican from our homes to yours, wherever you are.
We’ll be doing this over the coming weeks and months on our digital channels and we would love for you to join us, so do keep checking our website. if you find yourself in need of some inspiration – or distraction – you can always find something to Read, Watch or Listen to here.
We’ll be on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram too if you want to say hello or find out what we’re planning next.
Take care. We hope to see you soon.
