East London Dance

BBC Singers/Jeannin

Sofi Jeannin conducting

Singers and dancers unite for choreographed performances of spirited and spiritual choral works culminating in Brahms’s consoling A German Requiem.

The BBC Singers meet one of London’s most vibrant, cutting-edge dance companies. On the menu is music angry and consoling, powerful and peaceful – much of it amplified by choreography. A Curse Upon Iron is the most performed work by the Estonian composer Veljo Tormis, a shamanistic allegory on the evils of war that simmers with raw power.

After Leonard Bernstein’s spirited little mass and a new work by Amy Bryce, Sofi Jeannin conducts Brahms’s glowing message of brotherhood and consolation A German Requiem, in its intimate version for choir and two pianos.

The performance will finish at approximately 9:30pm. It includes a 20 minute interval.
