The Ballad of Wallis Island (12A)

A comedy from James Griffiths, based on his BAFTA-winning short, where former lovers and bandmates reunite for a private island show hosted by an eccentric lottery winner, reigniting old tensions.

Charles (Tim Key), an eccentric lottery winner who lives alone on a remote island and dreams of getting his favourite musicians, McGwyer Mortimer (Tom Basden & Carey Mulligan) back together. His fantasy turns into reality when the bandmates and former lovers accept his invitation to play a private show at his home on Wallis Island. Old tensions resurface as Charles tries desperately to salvage his dream gig.

Director James Griffiths (Cuban Fury) first made the project as a short, The One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island, which won Best Short Film at the 2018 BAFTA Awards.

His newly released feature length film has already received similar acclaim, with Tim Key being nominated for a National Film Award for Best Actor, and the film was praised at the Sundance Film Festival.
