Darbar: Tabla solo by Gurdain Rayatt + Murad Ali Khan

Darbar Festival

IMage of Gurdain + Murad Ali on stage

Experience rhythm to the soul-stirring expression of melody

The evening begins with the UK’s exciting tabla virtuoso, Rayatt, in a solo performance. Grandson of Bhai Gurmit Singh ji Virdee, Rayatt transforms his tabla into a storyteller, weaving intricate rhythmic narratives that showcase technical brilliance and deep musicality. Experience the complexity of his compositions as he moves from meditative beginnings to explosive climaxes. Kulkarni’s harmonium subtly guides the performance while keeping the tabla in focus.

After the interval, be transported by the haunting tones of the sarangi. Seventh-generation maestro Khan draws centuries of heritage through his bow, creating a conversation with Adhiya’s tabla. Together, they evoke a breathtaking range of emotions, from tender passages to exhilarating intensity. Book now for this extraordinary journey through rhythm and melody.
